IN SUNSET VALLEY, TX
American Indians Gather To
Celebrate Heritage In Austin

There were colorful sights and sounds at the Annual Austin Powwow and American Indian Heritage Festival Saturday.
The day is filled with traditional American Indian dancing, singing, arts, crafts, foods and entertainment.
To accommodate the crowd of more than 40,000, the event was held at the Tony Burger Center in Sunset Valley.
Created in 1992, the festival is the largest American Indian gathering in Texas.
The Powwow is always celebrated on the first Saturday in November.
The Powwow is meant to connect old and young generations to share their heritage, and teach others about the culture.
